Yes! Both the K40 and Polar are CO2 lasers, which are far superior to diode lasers for transparent materials. They can cleanly cut through 1/8" (3mm) wood and acrylic in a single pass. The Polar, with its 50W tube, can handle materials up to 1/4" (6mm) more effectively than the standard K40.
Because these laser engraving machines produce smoke, they must be vented outdoors via the included ducting. If you cannot vent through a window, we strongly recommend pairing your desktop laser with an OMTech Smoke Purifier/Fume Extractor to filter odors and particulates before they enter the room.
