No. A 40W CO2 laser cannot cut or deeply etch raw, unpainted metals like steel, brass, or copper due to wavelength reflection. However, the K40 laser engraver is excellent for marking treated metals. You can cleanly etch logos or text into anodized aluminum blanks, powder-coated tumblers, or raw steel that has been pre-treated with a specialty laser marking spray like LaserBond.
